Some things about me

1. NAME: 하지민

Most Koreans have names with Chinese characters, and my name is from Chinese characters too. If you don't know my name, that's sad. I am Jimin Ha. Ji(志) literally means meaning, and Min(玟) means a gem. Therefore, my name stands for meaningful gem or jewel if I translate it literally. My last name, Ha, means water in the Chinese character(河). My name was produced after I was born by a naming center to match my birth date and time for my fate. To be honest, I was unsatisfied with my name by the reason of pronunciation and the popularity of my name. When I was around 6 to 11 if someone asked me my name and I told them I am Jimin, nine out of ten asked me back for a pardon. I thought my name is easy enough to pronounce well, but native English speakers spoke my name as Jimun or Jimen and not Jimin. Young Jimin was embarrassed by that situation. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but everyone can pronounce my name properly. This is definitely because of BTS. There is a member named Jimin in BTS too, and actually one of my foreign friends told me that she could pronounce my name well because she is a fan of BTS. The second reason that I hated my name is the popularity of my name. If we just look into KMLA, there are 3 Jimins in the 26th wave, 2 or more Jimins in the 27th wave, and I don't know about the 28th wavers' name population. This usage ratio of Jimin is just 'OMG' for me. From elementary school, many people were confused about which Jimin is the Jimin that they were finding for, and this was a big stress for me. And clearly, a person with a common name has a big disadvantage. However, despite my parents and grandparents' efforts to choose my name, I would not change my Korean Name. But I am wondering if I need an English name or not. 

2. PET

What kind of pet do you have? Do you like animals? For the second question, I will desperately say yes, but for the first question, I don't have a pet. I am a super dog person, but I never had a dog. My mom told me that when I had a chance to have a prize for the accomplishment, I always asked for a dog, and she always said no. Now that I think about it, she was rational. I didn't have the ability and responsibility to raise the dog, and the reason why I liked dogs is because they are cute. I don't know why but I had a parrot for 5 years. Before I had the parrot, I thought every parrot can talk with people and they are smart, but after I had the parrot named Chorong, I changed. She was a dumb but pretty parrot that can't talk and can't be the potty-trained parrot. However, the problem was that my family and I didn't have enough interest in my parrot and felt sorry for her, so we gave up her for adoption to another family who was an expert in parrots. Still, I love dogs and sometimes want to have a dog, but I don't think I am ready. 

3. Notorious MBTI

MBTI test was a big trend in the past few years, and still, there are a lot of people who are poisoned by that test and analysis. MBTI, which is the Myers-Briggs Test, divides people into one of 16 personality types and gives some explanations about each type. There are four factors consisting of one type of MBTI, one is Extraversion(E) -Introversion(I), and this is a way to describe how people respond and interact with the world around them. The second character is Sensing (S) - Intuition(N) which is the scale that involves looking at how people gather information from the world around them. Third is Thinking(T)- Feeling(F) which focuses on how people make decisions based on the information that they gathered from their sensing or intuition functions. The last one is Judging(J)- Perceiving(P). This scale involves how people tend to deal with the outside world. My MBTI type is the most notorious type, ESTJ. If I do the MBTI test, my result is 54% E, 92% S, 98% T, and 89% J. ESTJ is up to 9% of the general population and they are organized, decisive, and practical. People usually say that ESTJs often fail to value emotions or take feelings into account, but I want to say that is not true! Some people tell me that I look like a cold person, but actually, I am not. I hope people do not judge me just on my MBTI, but evaluate me after they become close with me. 

4. Fav Season

Many people will pick winter as their favorite season. If I were able to endure the coldness, I would pick winter as my favorite too, but I am feeble to cold. I like the mood of the Christmas and new year seasons in winter, especially the cozy atmosphere. Simultaneously, I hate the snow. My favorite season is spring. I like the mood of cozy winter too, but I like the fine, sunny, and warm spring mood more. And the flowery scene of spring makes me fall into a crush on that season. For a minor reason, I like spring because I can wear some bright and light clothes that I like. Why not Summer or Autumn? That is because summer makes people clammy with sweat, and autumn is chilly.

5. City that I want to Visit 

After I watched the travel vlog to Cuba at 16, I had a dream to visit Havana someday. I'm telling this to people until my mouth is worn out, but I'll go to Cuba first when I'm 20. I always did comfortable travel with no deficiency, but I want to go on a backpacking trip, which will occur huge hardship and suffering, to Havana. I think Cuba is a country of youth and romance, and that will be the reason why there's a song tilted in Havana. Havana is known for its carefree life and beaches, and there are beautiful streets and plazas, where music and dance are the main attractions. Also, I want to have the experience of riding an old car in there. I made a promise to Chaehyeon to visit Havana after graduation and getting into University. 6. Magical Power

I want to have a time-turning ability like Hermione does with her time-turner. With this ability, I will be able to slow, stop, or freeze the environment, and maybe I could go back to the period when I was missing and regretting and change something for me now.

7. Favorite Book

My favorite book is "The Giver" by Lois Lowry, which is also made into a movie. I watched the movie too, but the book was weigh better than the filmed version, the producer was Disney, and I wonder if they did their best. This story is about a boy called Jonas who lives in a society free of crime but is restricted to feel emotions. This book ends with Jonas's rejection of his community's ideal of sameness. I like this quote from "The Giver": We gained control of many things. But we. ad to let go of others."

8. Weirdest Place I've Been: India

When I was six in Korean age, I went to India to see my aunt. Why my aunt lives in India? It is because she married with Indian man, and it was not unequal marriage, they just met each other at their university in the States. Both of my mom and dad were busy, I went there with my grandmother. My first impression of India on the first day that I just arrived there from Korea, it was not soggy and hot. 

9. Favorite Food Chain

My favorite food chain is Subway. I like to eat fresh food like pokè, salad, and sandwiches, My favorite menu at Subway is a Roast chicken sandwich on wheat bread, avocado added, and excepted cucumber and pickles. My favorite sauce is sweet chili and olive oil. Also, I like to eat steak and cheese avocado wrap. In Subway, cookies are on the "must order" menu. Their cookies are not so sweet and their texture is good, so sometimes like them better than the cookies from the bakery. If you go to the Subway, I hope you try on these menus and add double scoops of avocado. The more avocado makes you happier. 

10. Favorite Social Media

My favorite social media these days is Never Blog. Naver blog is where you can make your own websites and post your articles, lifestyle, or whatever just like this blogger I am writing on right now. People in KMLA use the Naver Blog a lot, so I like to read their posts and do networking with them. I like that the blog has a system that I can set my friends to read my posts by using 서로이웃. Therefore, I can post some private and informal things on it. 

11. Favorite Youtube Channel

My favorite youtube channel is "Deem D". "Deem D" is a v-log YouTuber, who doesn't show her face, but only shows her lifestyle and daily life. I like her mood and sincerity. I actually recommend this channel. Because she is very productive and living the 'that girl' life. She is really motivating for me.

12. Favorite Starbucks Menu.

Before the new menu named ear grey vanilla tea latte came out, my all-time favorite many was java chip frappuccino. However, now my favorite is ear grey vanilla tea latte which is sweet and smells good. To order this menu, I should go to Starbucks as fast as I can. Because this usually sold out fast. 

13. Favorite Movie

My favorite movies are "About Time" and "The Devil Wears PRADA". To be sincere, I don't have a favorite movie, so I just picked some memorable movies. I like the movie "About Time" even though I don't really like romance movies, because of their cliche. I liked their color and message in About Time. For "The Devil Wears PRADA", the fashion and color they show in the movie, busy workers, and successful female workers moved my heart. Living like Meryl Streep who is the boss of Anne Hathaway is my dream.

14. Favorite TV show

Definitely Modern Family. I watched whole seasons of Modern Family, and I really enjoyed it. I like the diverse cultures shown there, and the difference in race, gender, and age. It has a simple story that is all different from every single episode, so it is good to watch while I do my make-up and wear my clothes to go out. 

15. Favorite Painter

Claude Monet. Monet is a very famous painter who is the founder of impressionist painting and a key precursor to modernism. I like his light-tinted color and description style of the scene and objects. My favorite artwork from Monet is the "Water Lilies" series. There are more than 250 paintings in Water Lilies. During the last thirty years of his life, he focused on his artistic production. Monet was my favorite painter since when I was very young like 10. My mom took me to the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris and I fell in love with Monet's paintings. After then I went to almost all exhibitions about Monet in Korea.

16. Favorite Pop singer

I like Dua Lipa the best. I like her British accent and her powerful songs. I think she is the ideal cool girl who can speak her voice in the public like she criticized Rapper DaBaby when he made homophobic remarks, this kind of her social state and political creed is also a reason why I like her. She has a tall heightand her voice is husky. She take in deep bass voice well.My favorite song of her is New Rules. 

17. My major

My major is economics and business. My ideal path for the future is to major in economics during the university, and complete the MBA courses in the graduate school. I am having a disposition of administrator. So I want to have a major in business department and work in the finance field in Newyork Wall street. 

18.  Sports History

My mon tried a lot of sports on me. I did ballet from 5 to 12, but it was too hard for me to do because my body was so stiff. I also tried rhythmic gymnastics🤸‍♀️ at the same period, but I quit this faster than I ballet because it was harder than ballet. I think the only reasons I tried ballet quite long is because the tutu and stage costumes were pretty. I tried to play ping pong because my dad was a ping-pong player when he was a teenager and he plays it as a hobby. However, it was not fun for me at all. And I did Taekwon-do for more than 3 years and got a black belt and third degree certification. Lastly I did the speed skating for three years when I was in elementary school. I enjoyed it a lot and I played as the varsity player at school. However I didn't have a talent on sports, so I quit those all. 

19. Favorite color

I like pink the best. I like some adorable things, and I think pink is the most adorable color. I like all kinds of pink colors like baby pink, indie pink, mazanta pink, etc.. I buy a lot of things colored pink like clothes, shoes, phone cases, and stationaries. I think there is no special information about it.

20. My goal

My life goal is to work in the United States for the world. After I graduate university, I want to work in the financial companies like Mckinsey and J.P. Morgan. During 10 to 15 years working at there, I want to earn a lot of money to live the rest of the life affluently, and I want to work in the UN for a international civil servants at the UN Human Rights Council. I want to dedicate my rest of the life for the ailinated groups to make a social fund and positive discrimination. I think I am deserved to return some privileges that I had from the society.

21. What I am going to do on this weekend

This weekend is 휴토. On Saterday, I am going to watch "Guardians of the Galaxy:Volume 3" with my family because my sister likes it, and have a lunch with them. After that I will study a little in home and meet my friends in my hometown and hang out. On Sunday, I am going to go to the library with my mom and do some assignments that I have to finish due to next week. On Monday, I will meet Chaewon, the Chealsey girl in seoul, and visit Seongsoo dong with her. We will hang out together for whole day. Lastly, on Monday, I should go to my middle school to meet my teachers and do some info-session about KMLA. This weekend will be the busy weekend.

22. Favorite Fruit

I like tropical fruits and strawberry. Most of all, I most like mango. Mango is sweet and yellow, and I think many people will pick mango for their favorite. What should I say more...

23. Hobbies

I don't have a favorite hobby, but I like to go some hot places. Also, I like to go to art exhibitions. Recently I went to one exhibition to Seochon which was the photo exhibition named 'Anonymous Project'. This exhibition was very meaningful to me because I like to take photo in film camera and this exhibition was about photoes taken by film cameras. For hobbies, sometimes I dance too. I enjoy listening to music and sing, going karaoke with friends, go library to read books. But mostly, I go to hot places like pretty cafe, restaurants, or pop-up stores.

24. My friends

My friend relationships are broad and shallow. In there, I have two major friend groups. One is with my international friends consisted of me, Chaehyeon, Juhyun, and Dain, and we call us 'meangirls'. It is because we are four like the movie mean girls and sometimes behave like them. They are my closest friends in here. Another friend group is consisted with my domestic friends. They are Eunchae, Yejin, Siyeon, Chowoo, and Roa. Four is 이과 and only Yejin is 문과. They are my closest domestic friends and we usually talk about school news and some gossips and universities...😔 

25. What kind of people I don't like

I don't like lazy and inefficient. I think they are pathetic and the worst is when they are disrespectful to others and confident about their behavior. One example is my sister. she is lazy and work inefficiently, so I can't understand her. 

26. Things to do during the Gap year

I am really looking forward to do a lot of things during the Gap year before going to the States. First of all, I am going to lose my weight by going to the gym regularly, taking pilates lessons, and starting the adult ballet and dance class. And then, I'll do tutoring and part-time job to earn some money. For the affluent money to spend for my entertainment and shopping, I need to do a lot of work. Also, I am going to get a driver's license. Lastly, I should go family trip to Europe.

27. Things to do when I go to university

It will be very busy in the first year of the University. I am hoping for the parties there. Because I've never had a real party. Meeting new people and having new friends are exciting things to wait. And also, I am waint for the daily life eating chipotle in US.

28. Clubs

I joined over 10 clubs in KMLA. Some major clubs are business club named AVENTURES, cheerleading club KANDLES, Minjok Herald, and environmental club ENsiders. I was the captain of business club and cheerleading club, and I think I lead them quite well. Eventhough I am a senior, I am still doing the club activities. Some special clubs that I joined were coffee club named Beansness, Chinese language research society and dance club.

29. Love

I am seriously wondering that am I a sex-repulsed person who are not interested in both men and women, or I will be hetrosexual person. I never had a boy friend, but everybody around me tells the reason why I don't have a boy friend is because my standards required to be a boyfriend is so high, and too ideal. If I really am a sex-repulsed person, it will be sad.

30. Favorite Snacks 

I like all the sweets. Especially I like Japanse snacks. I like dark chocolate, but I don't like fake chocolates which I can't taste the cacao and only taste like a sugar. For example, ABC chocolate. I liked jelly very much, but thesedays, I am fed up with jelly when I eat just two or three pieces.
